How we match you with a local tradesperson

HouseQuote is new, and we are onboarding tradespeople area by area. We don't publish a public directory — you tell us about the job, and we introduce you to a small number of firms who cover your postcode and specialism.

What we ask for before anyone contacts you

We are honest about the limits of vetting: these checks reduce risk, they don't remove it. HouseQuote is an introduction service and does not carry out or guarantee any work.

Business details

We check the trading name, Companies House record where applicable, and that the business operates in the area it claims to cover.

Public liability insurance

We ask for a current certificate with the policy dates, and we ask again when it expires.

Legally required registrations

Where the work requires it — gas, electrical, and similar — we ask for evidence of the relevant registration before the trade can take that type of job.

Your own checks still matter

Always get a written quotation, confirm the registration number yourself on the official register, and never pay a large deposit up front.

What happens after you send your job

  1. 1

    You get an indicative cost

A realistic price range for the work, based on scope and location.

  2. 2

    We match your postcode

We look for firms covering your area that handle this type of job.

  3. 3

    A maximum of three contacts

Your details are never sold on or passed to anyone else.

  4. 4

    You choose who visits

You are under no obligation to accept a quote or arrange a visit.
